Having a child is, obviously, the focal point of a woman’s life. But who said it had to wreak havoc on her body, as well? The localized weight gain and subsequent loss, the changes in breast size and volume from pregnancy and breastfeeding, and the extreme hormonal changes can leave a woman with fatty, sagging, loose skin. While the new baby is great, the new body…uh, not so much.
A mommy makeover with Dr. Barrera can give you your body back, and maybe then some! A mommy makeover is a series of procedures that target the areas affected by pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding. The procedures are combined into a single surgical session.
What issues do a mommy makeover address?
Here are the problems a mommy makeover addresses:
- Droopy or deflated breasts
- Reduced breast volume
- Excess fatty tissue in the abdomen
- Stretch marks
- Weakened and separated abdominal muscles
A mommy makeover isn’t a “set” procedure. You’ll work with Dr. Barrera to identify areas you’d like to address. A mommy makeover usually involves a breast lift/augmentation, liposuction, and a tummy tuck, but if desired it can also include a back lift, or a butt lift.
When can you have a mommy makeover?
Dr. Barrera wants his mommy makeover patients to be sure they have completed their final pregnancy. If you have these procedures and get pregnant again, all of the gains made will be negated. You need to wait at least 10 months after delivery, more likely a year. You cannot rush this — you need to have been finished with breastfeeding for a number of months to allow your breasts to return to their natural size. Plus, you need to allow your hormones to stabilize.
Benefits
By combining procedures, patients can reduce overall recovery time dramatically. You have a more involved recovery, for sure, but it is a single recovery rather than three or more different recovery periods. Afterwards, patients will have:
- Firmer, lifted breasts
- A tighter abdomen
- Improved self-image and confidence
You don’t have to be discouraged by your post-baby body. Call Dr. Barrera at (713) 468-5200 and set up a consultation for a mommy makeover.
