The double chin in the young patient may be eliminated by liposuction alone in some mild cases. If the problem is more severe, it may require liposuction and tightening of the platysma muscle. If the skin is loose, this will require a facelift to eliminate the loose skin. An alternative would be a TZ Plasty in which the skin and fat are resected directly from the neck. This, however, may leave a visible scar and is used primarily in the male patient, as the beard hair camouflages this scar.
